The 1901 Census
The main resource in this section is a pair of tables which list all the Plucks and Pluckroses that I have been able to find in the 1901 census of England and Wales. The PLUCK table has 620 entries and the PLUCKROSE table 220 entries.

- Linked means that this person is linked into one of the trees (or twigs).
- Related means that their surname is not Pluckrose or Pluck but they are included in the census list for completeness. In some cases they are mothers or fathers in law, sometimes they are the children of a female Pluckrose or Pluck who has married.
- Not connected can mean a visitor (could be a relative), a servant, or perhaps a boarder - there is at least one instance of a female Pluck or Pluckrose (I can't remember which) who married the lodger.
- Not identified usually means that I have been unable to link them to an existing tree and there aren't enough people in the census entry to justify the creation of a new tree. In some cases the entry is a widow and there is not enough information (at present) to identify who they are.
I would like to hear from anyone who knows of any omissions from the table, or who can identify any of the fifty two individuals who remain unidentified.
The 1881 Census
I have compiled a table which lists everyone with the surnames PLUCK and PLUCKROSE in the 1881 British Census CD-ROM set. This is a less ambitious list than the 1901 census list. Firstly, it does not link anyone to a tree, and secondly, the amount of information provided is limited to keep the file down to a resonable size. If you want to know more, just ask.
There are six columns in this table:
- Index: this provides a unique reference number for each person in the list and links them together in a family.
- Address: as given in the census, occasionally abbreviated slightly for space-saving reasons.
- Surname: Pluck or Pluckrose
- Forenames: as given in the census transcription
- Age: as given in the census transcription
- Birthplace: as given in the census transcription.
