The 1901 Census

The main resource in this section is a pair of tables which list all the Plucks and Pluckroses that I have been able to find in the 1901 census of England and Wales. The PLUCK table has 620 entries and the PLUCKROSE table 220 entries.

Notes: There are several dozen explanatory notes which are linked to some of the entries. For space-saving reasons these notes are not incorporated into the two tables but are provided separately. The reference in the table identifies the number of the associated note.

I would like to hear from anyone who knows of any omissions from the table, or who can identify any of the fifty two individuals who remain unidentified.

The 1881 Census

I have compiled a table which lists everyone with the surnames PLUCK and PLUCKROSE in the 1881 British Census CD-ROM set. This is a less ambitious list than the 1901 census list. Firstly, it does not link anyone to a tree, and secondly, the amount of information provided is limited to keep the file down to a resonable size. If you want to know more, just ask.

There are six columns in this table:

  1. Index: this provides a unique reference number for each person in the list and links them together in a family.
  2. Address: as given in the census, occasionally abbreviated slightly for space-saving reasons.
  3. Surname: Pluck or Pluckrose
  4. Forenames: as given in the census transcription
  5. Age: as given in the census transcription
  6. Birthplace: as given in the census transcription.
