“MACBETH.” - Brentwood School produced “Macbeth” at the Memorial Hall on four days last week. It is six years since the last play was produced by the school. In the circumstances, especially considering that many improvisations had to be made in the way of “effects,” the boys are to be congratulated on a highly successful production. The school orchestra had the advantage of the musical direction of Dr. E. P. Brice. David Wright, Derek Cooper, and John Horton were the witches. Richard Ashby made a dignified Duncan, King of Scotland. John Seabright, as Banquo, was impressive, and Winston Baldock’s presentation of the title role was outstanding, as was that of Lady Macbeth by David Pluckrose. Ronald Hart was a virile Macduff, and everyone enjoyed Eric Humphreys in his part as the humorous Porter. Miss D. S. Anderson, an English mistress at the school, produced and coached the play. Mr. V. G. Rice was stage manager. The programme cover was neatly done by P. G. Bostridge.
