RAMSGATE'S BIGGEST THRILL
GALA WEEK ENDS AT FULL SPEED
Ramsgate’s most spectacular Gala Week concluded on Sunday11 with the first grass track speedway meeting attended by over 2,000 spectators at Jackey Baker’s Recreation Ground.
Although rough weather prevented the outboard motor boat races in the outer harbour, a race which was broadcast by the B.B.C. provided the biggest thrill of the week in the inner harbour on Friday evening.
Capt. George Eyston, M.C., holder of the land speed record, distributed the awards on Saturday at the concours d’elegance, which was again an interesting feature of the week’s varied programme.
