Debt of Honour Register

George Pluck
Sapper, Royal Engineers

He died on 28 May 1945, aged 31. He is buried at the Jonkers Bos War Cemetery on the south west outskirts of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He served in the 937 Port Construction and Repair Company.

The CWGC site has no record of any relatives. The UK Army Roll of Honour 1939-1945 records that he was born in Eire and lived in Belfast.  Laura Egan-O'Brien believes that he is related to her family. She tells me that "  . . . a Pluck relation of ours (Georgie Pluck) joined the British Army during the war and was in Holland at the end of the war when he was walking through an orchard and stepped on a mine, which killed him. He was a coalman before the war and left behind a fiancé." .
