| 0725 | BEAN | Gladys Pearl | Gladys was born in 1895 when her mother was aged 16 and unmarried. When Gladys married Harry Reuben Brewer in 1918 her surname was recorded as Bean, her mother's maiden name. Presumably she was not the child of Leonard Thomas Pluck who married her mother in 1898. "Mary Flora Catherine Bean had a baby girl in Australia; Gladys Pearl on 15 Apr 1895 when she was just 18. She travelled to New Zealand about 1896. Mary registers her baby Gladys Pearl in New Zealand soon after she arrives. On the birth certificate, she does not state the father or, precisely, there is an empty space where the father should be. The original Birth Certificate was sighted at Val Bell's residence in 2010." [Neil Pluck: 17/1/2014] Gladys died in 1922 at the age of 25. |
