Notes on Tree 17

Melbourn & Cambridge Plucks

Origins

This tree is a continuation from Tree 4.

The head of this tree, Benjamin Pluck (PL0410) was born in Arkesden in 1776, the son of William Pluck (PL5) and his second wife Eizabeth Wootten. Benjamin next appears in the records on 14 October 1801 when he marries Mary January in Melbourn Parish Church (Boyd's index). Melbourn is about 12 miles from Arkesden. His older brother, Thomas, also moved from Arkesden, but in his case to Fowlmere, just a couple of miles from Melbourn.

A Welsh Link

Not many Plucks turn up in Wales. One exception was Joel Clement Pluck (PL1298) the son of Joseph Pluck and Mary Ann Clement who was born in Melbourn in 1838 and who married Margaret Roberts in 1861 in the Conway RD. They can be found in the 1881 census of Dwygyfylchi where the couple were living with Margaret's father Robert Roberts.

Error

An error was found on 25 July 2017. I had assigned the wrong wife to James Pluck (PL1313). I had married him, erroneously, to Charlotte Matilda Barnes. The correct wife should have been Charlotte Agnes Clarke. This error has been corrected and a new daughter for Charlotte and James, Mabel Agnes, has been added to the tree. I have also added Mabel's husband, Leslie Freeman Endersby, who she married in 1926. No other changes were made to this tree at this time.
