Notes on Twig 19

At the moment this is a speculative tree in two respects. [1] I am assuming that James Pluck (PL2911) married Bridget (PL3016) the widow of Garrett Pluck. [2] I am speculating on whether James is also the brother of Lawrence (PL3005). This is based mainly on the fact that there were sharing a house in the 1871 census. They could be the sons of Hugh Pluck and Mary Brian in Tree1009. At the moment the two pairs of Jameses and Lawrences have different PL numbers in the two trees - but this will have to be changed if I get better evidence about their relationship.

3022 BURNS Rose Ann C1861: NF; C1871: age 38, a dressmaker, born Liverpool; C1881: age 40; The GRO indexes record her birth ii Q4 1840 and death in Q2 1890 at the age of 58. Either I have a wrong record, or there is an error in her recorded age ( probably the latter).
3014 EDWARDS David C1901: a widow, living with her brother, Timothy (also wid).
2912 MCDONNELL Margaret C1851: age 30, born in Ireland; C1861: age 36, born in Ireland; C1871: age 40; C1881: age 65. Still living at 17 Portland Street at the time of her death.
2911 PLUCK James C1841: age 40, labourer, born in Ireland, living with Bridget (relationship uncertain); C1851: surname recorded as Plunkett but there is no doubt about his identity as he has a wife named Margaret, and his widowed mother in law, Ann McDonald, is living with them; aged 45, born in Ireland. C1861: Living at 17 Portland Street, Liverpool, a corn porter, age 50, born in Ireland. C1871: still at 17 Portland Street (age 48); now sharing the house with Lawrence Pluck (30, a carter) his wife Bridget (33) both born in Ireland, and their sons Lawrence (7) and James (3).; C1881: still at Portland Street, age 70, general labourer. Still living at 17 Portland Street at the time of his death.
3002 PLUCK James C1861
3008 PLUCK James C1871; C1881: no occupation recorded. Not found in later censuses or GRO indexes.
3015 PLUCK John C1841: born Ireland c 1822.
3005 PLUCK Lawrence C1871: age 30, born in Ireland, a carter. Living at same address as James and Margaret Pluck (PL2911/2).
There is a possible marriage: Q3 1860 Liverpool 8b, 506, to either Ellen ROONEY or Mary HOWLEY.
3007 PLUCK Lawrence C1871; C1881: no occupation recorded; C1891: living with his mother in Bootle, a coal labourer; C1901: still with his mother, casual labourer; C1911: age 45.
3003 PLUCK Margaret C1871; C1881: a kitchen maid in a pub, unmarried; C1891: she is now married to James Boag, age 30, Donkeyman, born Liverpool and has two children: Margaret A age 2, born Bootle, and James age 3, born Bootle, and they are living at 58 Boreland Street, Bootle, Lancs. Bridget Pluck, and her son Lawrence were living at 42 Boreland Street in 1891, and had moved to 66 by 1901.
3014 PLUCK Mary Ann C1841; C1851: age 17, born Ireland. C1901: living with her wid. brother Timothy; age 42, a domestic servant.
Her death in 1906, with a recorded age of 48, while consistent with the 1901 census it is a long way from the age of someone who was clearly recorded as 17 in the 1851 census (who would have been 72). I don't think we have the wrong person, though, since her brother's age in 1901 was recorded as 47, when in fact he was 69. Perhaps Irish years are longer than English years.
3018 PLUCK Miles C1841: born Ireland c 1816.
3013 PLUCK Timothy C1841; C1851: age 19, cooper's apprentice, born Ireland; C1861: NF; C1871: a cooper, age 38; C1881: age 50, a cooper; C1891: age 59, wid. a cooper; C1901: age 47, wid, a cooper, living with his widowed sister, Mary Ann Edwards.
The evidence for Timothy's second marriage is circumstantial. There isn't another Timothy who fits.
3006 RIGNEY Bridget
Her death record in the GRO index is unusual in that it occurs twice with different first names. Bridget and Harriet are both on the same page in the (typescript) index. On the face of it, this looks like an error, with Bridget [8b 450a] being the correct[ed] entry. The 1911 census has Harriet (but not Bridget). She is in an "institution where, perhaps she was known by the wrong name. Perhaps the institution registered her death in the wrong name and the family corrected it.
3016 [PLUCK] Bridget C1841: living with James (PL2911) relationship is uncertain. A death certificate is needed.
