MEMBRANE 4d.

Simon Eyr citizen and draper, Adam Semy citizen and ‘sherman,’ both of London, Christopher Stella and Leonard Cathaneus, both of Genoa (Janua) merchants, to the king. Recognisance for 500l., to be levied etc. in the city of London.

Condition, that if hereafter it shall be proved that certain wool lately shipped by aliens in the port of Melcombe, and arrested by John Pole and other the king’s commissioners for that those aliens did clack the wool contrary to the statute as the king was informed, pertains or ought to pertain to him as forfeit, this recognisance shall remain in force, otherwise it shall be null and void.

John Forster, son and heir of William Forster late husband of Joan one of the daughters of John Basset and Felicia his wife of Crysteshale co. Essex, and Robert Forster of the town of Westminster ‘gentilman’ to John Plukkerose of Great Chishulle, William Hegham of Walden and William Plukkerose of Lynton, their heirs and assigns. Charter of demise and feoffment with warranty of a moiety of all the lands, rents and services in Great Chishulle, Little Chishulle and Heydoun co. Essex which were of the said Felicia, and which the said Robert had jointly with William Whaplode by feoffment of John Plukkerose. Witnesses: Nicholas Wyltshyre of Heydoun, John Basset, John Smyth, Nicholas Smyth, Thomas Goodman, all of Chishulle.

MEMBRANE 2d.

Thomas Haseley esquire and Alexander Ferentin to Richard Archer of Salop esquire. Recognisance for 200 l ., to be levied etc. in Surrey.

Condition, that they shall abide and perform the award of John bishop of Bath and Wells the chancellor concerning all personal actions, plaints and debates pending between the parties before this date. Proviso that the award shall be made before the octaves of Michaelmas next.

John Forster, son and heir of William Forster, to John Plukkerose, William Hegham and William Plukkerose, their heirs and assigns. Quitclaim with warranty of a moiety of all the lands, rents and services in Great Chishulle, Little Chishulle and Heydoun late of Felicia sometime wife of John Basset of Cristeshale co. Essex, which they have by demise and feoffment of the said John Forster and Robert Forster of Westminster ‘gentylman.' Witnesses: John Basset of Chishulle, Nicholas Wiltshyre of Heydoun, John Burne.

Great Chishulle and Little Chisshulle are now Great and Little Chishill respectively, Crysteshale is now Chrishall, Walden is Saffron Walden, Lynton is now Linton, Heydoun is now Heydon. The Chishills, Chrishall and Heydon are a cluster of villares a couple of miles west of Saffron Walden. Linton is about 5 miles NE of Saffron Walden.
