1861 : John Pluck's Leg is Broken in an Accident

ACCIDENT TO A GROOM. - On Sunday evening last (14 April 1861), as a man named John Pluck, groom, employed at the Old Farm, Bedminster-down, was attending to a horse in the stable for the first time since he had been in his master’s employ, the animal suddenly kicked him with such force as to break his leg. He was immediately picked up and conveyed in a fly to the General Hospital, where his injuries received prompt attention, and he is now recovering.
