MATCH AT FANNING WOOD. — A friendly match was lately played at Fanning Wood, the seat of the Right Hon R. V. Smith, M.P., between eleven players procured by Courtenay Vernon, Esq, and eleven members of the Thrapston and Oundle Clubs. Score: Thrapston and Oundle 50 and 50 — total 100: Gravely marked 5 and 2, C. Newton 10 and 15, E. Fentiman 0 and 5, R. F. Eland (not out) 3 and 7, H. Smith 5 & 0, &c; byes &c 21 and 15. Fanning Wood 21 and 32 — total 53; Jackson obtained 7 and 1, Rev — Mence 2 and 3, Sargeant Esq 5 and 0, Rev — Marshall 0 and 5, Rev — Plucke 0 and 12, Lord Lilford (absent) 0 and 1, &c; byes &c 1 and 1.

I have no idea where Fanning Wood is situated but since the teams were from
Thrapston and Oundle, Northamptonshire seems very likely.
